Who: Thermomix Australia for ‘Quirky Cooking’ cookbook
Brief: Capture a collection of ‘lifestyle’ photographs of Jo Whitton and her family that showcase a snippet of personal life and inspirations for living the life she does.
For: Photos be used in print for national cookbook, ‘Quirky Cooking’. The lifestyle photos went alongside the recipe photos throughout 228 pages, in a textured square format cookbook. Jo has a strong fan base who are very interested in the way she lives her life and Thermomix wanted to showcase this ‘personal’ side of Jo to go along with her recipes. The cookbook was designed by the talented team at ‘Chil3’. The lifestyle photos were taken by me (Honey) and were placed alongside the food photography that was taken by Craig Kinder who is based in Perth. Buy this book here.
How: A mood/inspiration board was send from Thermomix and from there I created a shot list to refect these photos based around the light and locations available. I spent two days with Jo and her family in the Atherton Tablelands documenting her living space, the landscape, family, her regular haunts and sentimental pieces that helped to tell her ‘story’. The photoshoot utilised solely natural light because the cookbook needed to feel ‘organic and real’.
Capturing lifestyle photographs of someone as inspiring as Jo was such a pleasure. Jo Whitton walks her talk. She’s warm, engaging and extremely passionate about healthy eating and cooking from scratch.
